Trends in Tile

October 18, 2020 by iccfloors Leave a Comment

Are you working on a new tile project at home? Are you redoing your kitchen tile, backsplash or a bathroom? If so, you’ll want to keep reading as we take a closer look at what’s trending in tile!

Think BIG

Large format tiles like 18″x36″ and 24″x48″ are what’s hot. Don’t be afraid to go big! Larger tiles have several advatages. One of those advantages is how large format tile can make a room feel bigger. The less lines that interrupt your line of sight, the larger and cleaner the space will feel. Other advantages include less grout, which means you are spending less time cleaning dirty grout. With less grout showing more attention is paid to the tile, which is what you’re paying for in the first place!

Hex’s are Huge!

These tiles are available in different sizes, colors and even textures. Think about using monochromatic hexagons or different shades together to create a look like the photo below. Hexagonal shaped tile can be used on the floor of a room, shower floor, accent wall, shower wall, backsplash, exterior feature wall or anywhere your imagination (or interior designer!) can think of. Love this look, but not sure how to incorporate it into your room? Ask us for help! It’s what we are here for! You can text us right from our homepage.

Make the Most of your design with Metals

Using metal tile in your tile design can be a creative way to get a designer look without spending big bucks. Think about using a more affordable tile in most of your area (also known as “field tile”) and using metal tile as an accent. This way you get the look if you can’t afford to use metal tile throughout your entire space.

If your budget allows it, use metallic tile to make a statement like this below! Note the use of lighter tile on the wall and contrasting darker tile as an accent in front of the metal chairs. The mix of metal finishes in this room gives it a high end designer feel!

If these tile trends excite you, let our experts work with you on how to incorporate these trends into your home or business. Make a statement! Let the tile do the talking! Show off your design style with tile! Let’s get started. https://www.iccfloors.com/contact

2020 Bathroom Trends

October 16, 2020 by iccfloors Leave a Comment

The demand for new master baths in Indianapolis is increasing. Now that many families in Indianapolis are spending almost all of their time at home, they have a new appreciation that a bathroom can offer so much more than function. A master bath can be a refuge from Zoom fatigue, a wellness center and a room to spend a few minutes devoid of email, texts and family members, all to yourself. That’s why the results of a recent 2020 Houzz.com bathroom trend study does not come as a surprise.

A Desire for a Makeover

Most homeowners nationally and in Indianapolis want to change their master bath style when they renovate. The Houzz study found 69% of homeowners perceived their existing bath as projecting “an old and outdated look.” The primary reason homeowners in Indianapolis want a complete makeover is to achieve a current vibe with clean lines. The most popular design trend is modern, favored by 20% of homeowners in the Houzz study, followed by transitional motifs (19%) and contemporary (18%). Traditional motifs were favored by 12% of homeowners, and 5% of survey respondents opted for a farmhouse design.

Health and Wellness Take Center Stage

More than 40% of renovating homeowners converted their master bath into a space for relaxation. 55% of Houzz study respondents reported that soaking in a tub helps them relax. Conversely, 54% of respondents enjoy taking long showers.

Shower appeal is growing. Nearly 50% of homeowners removed the tub during the remodel, opting for larger and multifunctional showers.

High Tech Fixtures

Nearly 50% of faucets and more than a third of toilets in renovated baths feature advanced technology that includes increased water efficiency and finger-proof finishes on faucets and self-cleaning toilet systems with heated seats.

Accentuated Spaces

Accent walls are hot in bath remodels in Indianapolis. Nearly 40% of remodels cited in the Houzz study featured accent walls in the master bath. 19% of homeowners opt for an accent wall inside the shower; 18% placed an accent wall outside the shower. Using different surface materials, such as tile or stone, was the most popular method to create an accent wall in the master bath, followed by colors, patterns, or textures that differ from the rest of the bath. The most popular accent wall color was blue.

Light Up Your World

80% of homeowners renovating a master bath improved their lighting, and that makes sense because lighting affects how a room looks and feels.

If you would like to create a personal haven in your home where you and your family can go to relax and rejuvenate, give us a call or make an appointment to visit our showroom either in person or virtually.

Pre-Holiday Cleaning Inspiration

October 9, 2020 by iccfloors Leave a Comment

The holidays are around the corner. That means you’ll be moving things around. Why not take advantage of this time by doing a little cleaning, clearing and organizing! We all dread it but it can be so cleansing to purge all of the things that you no longer need, sanitize and clean your house from top to bottom, and air your house out to create an environment of order and purity. Sometimes taking that first step is the hardest part of the process.

Don’t worry! There are ways to organize the way that you tackle your cleaning which makes the task much more manageable. It starts with creating a plan of action. Having a plan is the key to success. Make a list of everything you need to accomplish. Once you have the list, prioritize tasks thinking top down.

First, you will want to remove clutter and unwanted items. Ask yourself how much you would like to remove. Depending on the size of your task you may find that you need to get a dumpster. Or you may find if your clutter is minimal and that a few large trash bags will work. Don’t forget to think about things like old purses, clothes and shoes.

Next, you will want to thoroughly clean all surfaces. First, we recommend opening some windows to let your house air out while you work. Then you will want to make sure you dust, mop and vacuum, making sure that by the time you are done, every single surface in your home has been cleaned and shined.

Finally comes organizing what is left over. At this point you can go through everything you have left in your home and organize. Start small with a task such as your silverware drawer before moving to larger areas like kitchen or bathroom cabinets. Even your dresser drawers might need a little organization.

Now that your home is completely cleaned and fresh you can sit back and enjoy the splendor of your hard work. Your home is now completely ready for the holiday season whether that means decorating or hosting! If you find yourself inspired to do more, don’t hesitate to call us for help. We can help with paint, cabinets, flooring, countertops and more!

What’s the Best Backsplash Material?

September 28, 2020 by iccfloors Leave a Comment

Backsplashes too often, unfortunately, don’t make it to the top of the priority list of homeowners in Indianapolis when renovating their kitchens. Backsplashes serve both functional and aesthetic purposes. They enable homeowners in Indianapolis to protect walls from grease, water, and foodstuffs while providing opportunities to make a unique design statement.

No one material is superior to other backsplash options. Material selection often depends on style preferences and ease of maintenance. Here are the pros and cons of different backsplash materials:

Glass (Slabs or Tile)

Pros:

  • Easy to clean
  • Resists heat and won’t be damaged from cooking
  • Endless options – almost every color scheme, style and design is available in glass
  • Customizable sizing
  • Enhances illumination because of glass’ ability to reflect light
  • On-trend

Cons:

  • Can be costly
  • Glass mosaics may not have long-term staying or stylistic power
  • May not be perceived as novel or unique

Natural Stone

Pros:

  • Timeless look
  • Unique – no two pieces of stone look the same
  • Cost-effective

Cons:

  • Requires more effort to clean
  • Some cleaning products could cause the stone to discolor
  • Stones are naturally porous, which causes them to absorb water and stains. Therefore,  stone needs to be resealed every two to three years or more often depending on the amount of cooking in your kitchen.
  • What you see may not be what you get. Because no two pieces of stone are the same, the sample you see in the showroom will vary slightly from the stone that is shipped.

What backsplash would enhance the look, feel, and functionality of your new kitchen? Give us a call to discuss or make an appointment to visit us at one of our beautiful showrooms.

Encapsulating Autumn with Decor

September 22, 2020 by iccfloors 1 Comment

Seasonal decorating is a tradition many families will integrate into their homes.  When winter comes, the Christmas tree and lights go up, and when spring comes, flowers are planted around your house.  Autumn is a great season filled with holidays, festivities, and seasonal amenities which are fantastic to include in your home design.

It’s also a great time to spice up your space with new floors and countertops. In fact, flooring and countertops can set the stage for your design. From hand-scraped to wire-brushed trends to marble looks, the design possibilities are endless in 2020. Plus, with innovations in the industry, you do not have to settle for only one type of flooring in your home.

We put together a list of five Autumn décor ideas you will want to include in your home to express your festive-side:

Plaid

Fall has a sense of being cozy when you are indoors and a sense of adventure when out and about.  Adding plaid blankets or a new area rug to your floors will give your house a nice warm and cozy feel.  You can try adding plaid designs outside through welcome mats, outdoor pillows, and blankets.

Fall Plantation

Including fall harvest inside your home is another excellent way to make a statement.  Outside your home, you can add straw, autumn flowers, or corn stalks. Inside your home you can take these same elements and create an arrangement for your countertop to set the mood for fall.  Add pumpkins as a centerpiece on your table or you can even have a basket filled with fall foods like corn, squash, and baby pumpkins.  Including faux wheat is another excellent decor piece to add to vases or pitchers around your home.  Go a step further and add fall scents. You can incorporate things like cinnamon soaps or cider scented candles to help capture the fall feel.

However, if you notice that your countertops are not as pristine as they once were, you can have your countertops replaced. Currently homeowners love the natural, one-of-a-kind beauty of marble and quartz countertops. Marble countertops feature an authentic, beautiful veining that is unmatched by any other countertop. However, if you are looking for a more durable & low maintenance countertop, quartz is a great option, you can opt for beautiful quartz countertops. Quartz is composed of natural crystals, which makes it an insanely gorgeous countertop option. Plus, quartz countertops are perfect for homeowners who love to cook because they are scratch-, stain-, and heat-resistant.

Wood

Adding pictures with wood or incorporating wood into your home design can add to the overall warmth of a room.  You can start using your fireplace more and decorate your mantle with festive fall décor.  Put fallen leaves into picture frames and display the beautiful countryside colors of fall for an added touch.

Think Rustic

Rustic colors will make a substantial impact on your home’s decor and what you are trying to convey.  Adding rustic display items and antiques will help fully encapsulate the fall spirit.  Woven baskets are great to use in your home and can hold your plaid blankets.  Adding warm reds to your home through curtains, throw rugs, area rugs and floral arrangements can give a rural influenced aesthetic in the fall season. Try adding rustic display items as a centerpiece to your kitchen island!

Pillows and Pictures

A simple, cost-effective task you can add is swapping out your current pictures and pillows.  This is an easy tradition you can do for every season.  Plaids and stripes with autumn hues can help bring your room full circle, but you do not have to commit to the look year-round fully.

Autumn can have so many fun decorations to add to your home.  Try including some of these tricks and tips this fall season to your home.
