If you missed any of our previous ICC Home showroom remodel posts, you can view them here. But for now, we wanted to share the top paint picks for 2019 with you:

Choosing the perfect paint color for your home can feel overwhelming at times. With so many colors available on the market, it can be hard to even know where to begin. First, you should identify what you are trying to transpire visually through your design. Colors can all have influences on how we interpret a room’s overall feel and utilizing this aspect can be helpful. If you still have no idea where to begin, we recommend looking at some of Benjamin Moore’s top sellers in 2019. Determine what you like or do not like about each paint to help you determine which is the best color to put in your home.

Head Over Heels

Head Over Heels is a warm, ivory-influenced color. It is part of the Affinity Color collection. It brings a whole new look to a once-conventional color. This simply sophisticated hue is calming yet very inviting. It shows a true understanding of elegance. It is soft yet stabilizing and pairs great with Monet and Night Shade to create a sleek design contrast. You can create a more pleasant atmosphere in any space with Head Over Heels.

Its deep undertones mixed with a brilliant color creates perfect harmony and a striking result. It is a fresh and rejuvenating color to put into your design if you are looking for something new. Additionally, this color is great to couple with Tranquility and Sweet Springs to make a relaxing yet revitalizing environment.

Preparing for a Paint Project

January 4, 2019 by iccfloors Leave a Comment

If you are gearing up to launch a paint project in your home, we are sure that you will want to get it right the first time.  To help you with your paint project, we have compiled a list of all the accessories that you will need for a flawless interior paint job. Let’s take a look!

1. Painter’s Tape

You will find that painter’s tape is a lifesaver. One of the most important things you can do when performing a paint job in your home is to adequately prep your home. In fact, when you pay attention to prepping your house, you will be much happier with the results. Painter’s tape helps keep your trim, ceiling, and other finishes paint-free during the process. Just imagine how tough it can be to remove paint from delicate surfaces and with painter’s tape, you do not have to worry about that.

2. Starter Kit

If this is your first DIY paint project, you should start strong by investing in a beginner’s painting kit. Such a kit will include essential tools like paint brushes, rollers, tray, tray liner, and gloves. Purchasing a kit is much easier than trying to buy all the items individually, especially if you do not really know all the things you will need for a successful painting project.

3.  Paint Edger

It can be hard getting to the edges and corners of the room. That is why you may need a paint edger.  You will find that a paint edger comes in handy when getting to the trickiest parts of a room.

4.  Drop Cloth

Of course, a drop cloth is essential, especially if you are painting a room with furniture in it. A drop cloth will protect your furnishing and floors from accidental drips. Also, a drop cloth makes the cleanup process much more manageable.  Plastic drop cloths are the most inexpensive option but canvas cloths are more efficient, and they are not slippery.

5. Paint Brush Cover

Will your paint project take more than one day? If so, paintbrush covers are definitely a necessity.  Instead of wasting time washing the paint off your brushes, you can store them for use the next day in a paint brush cover.

6. Paint Tray

Perhaps the most annoying thing about paint trays is that you have to repeatedly keep filling them. When shopping for a paint tray, purchase one that can hold up to a gallon of paint. This will help make the painting process go much faster.

ICC Home is your one-stop-shop for everything paint related. With a wide selection of Benjamin Moore products, we can help you create your dream oasis. For more information on our selection, please call or visit us. We look forward to working with you.

4 Mistakes to Avoid When Selecting Paint

October 29, 2018 by iccfloors Leave a Comment

Paint can completely transform a space. Certain colors have specific “feelings” associated with them and as a result, choosing the correct color can create a seemingly perfect, well-put-together design. Since paint holds together a whole design, it is often encouraged to finish off the look with paint. If you are nearing the final step in your design process, we would like to share some common mistakes to avoid when choosing paint colors. These helpful tips will eliminate any questions, doubt or concerns when searching for the perfect paint color. Let’s take a look!

Four Mistakes to Avoid When Selecting Paint:

Mistake No. 1: Picking Your Paint Color First:

You will want to determine what you are keeping in the room if you are not starting the design process from scratch. Organize existing colors in the room starting with the flooring, furniture, window coverings, artwork, textiles, and area rugs. You will also want to take into consideration how much natural light comes into the room. Consider how all these variables play off each other and choose a color that can support these various items.  Maybe you will decide to select your main wall color from an accent throw pillow, area rug or window coverings. If you pick your color first, you will limit your choices, and you cannot guarantee that your new shade will match the existing colors. This theory also works if you are starting your design process from scratch. Experts recommend choosing paint last to ensure that it fits within the current color scheme.

Mistake No. 2: Not Looking at The Whole Picture:

You will want to walk from room to room and understand the flow. Considering the transitions of your rooms is essential. You want the entire home to blend aesthetically from room to room. For example, you would not paint the kitchen a bright red and the family room a neon green. While the colors may look nice separately, they can clash during the overall transition.

Mistake No. 3: Picking an Overbearing Color:

If you love red, we do not recommend painting the entire room red because it may potentially overpower the room. Instead, choose an accent piece like a lamp with a red base or red accent pillows to introduce the color into the room. Wall colors with a lighter, more muted tone work much better for the wall color. The last thing you want is for the paint colors to fight for attention and clash with the other colors found throughout the room.

Mistake No. 4: Not Considering Emotional Goals:

Each color evokes a certain feeling. Warm tones and cool tones have specific attributes associated with them. For example, cool tones are often seen as relaxing and refreshing whereas warm tones are seen as cozy and comforting. When you are choosing a color, you will want to consider the feelings associated with it. For bedrooms, you may desire a comfortable, in turn, choose a warm beige. Whatever emotional goal you are trying to obtain, have your paint color help you get there.

If you are struggling with the process or have any specific questions, one of our expert sales staff would love to help you! At ICC Floors, we provide a one-stop shop for your design needs.
