How to Incorporate Warm Tones into Your Home

January 18, 2019 by iccfloors Leave a Comment

Creating an atmosphere can be so much more than just adding furniture and decor into a room.  How a room makes you feel, and the overall ambiance can be highly influenced by colors.  Warm tones and cool tones are different ways to change the perception of how a room feels.  By applying different colors to a space, you can evoke different psychological impacts, thus expressing a specific emotion. Learning how to apply these tones is a powerful tool which you can use to not only enhance your space but completely revamp the entire feel while recreating the mood of your room.

Warm Tones

While cool tones are great for creating a more relaxed ambiance in your home, using warm tones can produce high levels of energy and make a more welcoming environment.  They are also ideal for hosting guests and making your space feel more lively and inviting.  They can be great in large rooms but be wary when applying them in smaller spaces.  We suggest using neutral based walls and incorporating your warm tones as accent colors to make the room feel cozy.

Reds

Using red is a powerful way to influence the mood of your room.  It is a bold color that creates a passionate atmosphere and can draw dramatic attention to specific areas in your space.  It is best affiliated with excitement and energy while stimulating the mind.  This robust color is perfect for spicing up your atmosphere and making a livelier and inviting environment.

Yellows

Try going the creative route by incorporating hues of yellow.  Yellow can be planned in your design but is psychologically referred to as “spontaneous and adventurous.”  This great warm tone can stimulate the mind to feel more awake and lively.  Yellow is known best for helping with happiness and positivity.  Applying this optimistic color can add a ray of sunshine to your design and help capture a warmer toned atmosphere.

Oranges

Orange is a stimulating color that is great for creating more balance and warmth to your home.  It can come in a wide variety of hues and tones from neon orange to rustic copper tones.  This sociable color can help a dull room feel like the life of the party.  It evokes adventure, happiness, as well as just plain fun psychologically.  Using orange is a great way to capture warm tones in your home while having fun.

Whatever colors you decide to use in your home, be sure to find balance.  Warm tones can be powerful, and accents can go a long way.  Do not be afraid to add these hues to a neutrally based room to help give it life.  Learning how to apply these tones can be a great way to help evolve your home’s design.

Do you already use warm and cool tones in your home?  How have you been applying colors to change your home’s atmosphere? We would love to hear your thoughts below in the comment section.
