Five Ideas for an Organized and Stress-free Closet

September 18, 2020 by iccfloors Leave a Comment

Let us face it. Our closet is one of the things that most of us face every day. Wouldn’t it be great if it were organized so you don’t encounter a stress filled morning rummaging through all the stuff inside your closet? There is hope!

Here are five ideas for an organized and stress-free closet.

  1. Declutter. Look through all the clothes in your closet and decide which goes and which stays. You can even donate these extra clothes to charity. Your trash can be someone else’s treasure. If you grab a garment and don’t feel amazing – get rid of it.
  2. Categorize. Group your clothes together so you can allocate certain areas of your closet for certain items. For example, group all of your t-shirts, blouses, coats, underwear, etc, and then allocate a certain space for each group. By doing this, you can find things easily as each group of clothes are together.
  3. Organize your clothes per season. You will not wear your winter jacket during summertime, right? So organize your clothes per season and store in your closet only those clothes that you can wear for that season and keep the out of season clothes in a separate closet. This can also help create extra room in your closet.
  4. Customize. A customized closet will save you time, energy and change the way you start and end your day. Get inspired with our closet partners Organized Living!
  5. Start a habit. Once you are done organizing your closet, make it a habit to at least check and re-organize your closet at least three or four times a year. Otherwise, it will just pile up again with new clothes that you have acquired during the year and you will end up with a chaotic closet again.

Your closet is a very useful storage space and it can help make your life easy if you implement an effective closet organization.

Kitchen Remodel Ideas

June 23, 2020 by iccfloors Leave a Comment

To help you take on your next remodeling project, we have created ten tips for a kitchen remodel. Let’s get started!

Kitchen Remodel Ideas:

  1. Wide Walkways.
Narrow walkways can cause a newly remodeled space to feel tight or out of date. Before finalizing your remodeling plans, be sure to discuss adding wide walkways into their kitchen. The wide walkways will give you more room to move around and work throughout the kitchen.
  2. The Right Height.
A lot of times, homeowners will place their appliances wherever it looks best rather than taking function and proper layout into consideration. For example, to ensure you have the best kitchen for YOUR family and YOUR lifestyle, you want to place your microwave and double ovens at the right height for you. If you are shorter or taller, this will adjust depending on your preferences.
  3. Do Not Cut Corners.
Corner cabinets can be a tricky topic, because they tend to have difficulties opening when another cabinet is open. Before ruling them out, let’s talk corners and find you a solution!
  4. A Purpose-Filled Island.
Islands are terrific place to add a must-needed feature in your home without wasting space. If you are in need of an extra sink or even storage, your island can come in handy. Be sure to incorporate these essential features into your island for maximum functionality.
  5. Count on Counters.
During a remodel, you want to make sure that you buy a solid countertop. You want to choose one that is easy to maintain and fits your cooking needs. Be sure to discuss the different options before you settle on one.
  6. One Less Trip.
If you have extra money in your budget or you consider yourself a home chef, you may want to consider adding a pot filler near your stovetop. It doesn’t seem like much, but saving an extra trip to the sink with a heavy pot can be a real luxury!
  7. Chalk It Up To A Fantastic Idea.
Chalkboard accents are a stylish and functional option. They are the perfect solution for busy homeowners who need a place to write their grocery list. They also make for a great kid distraction while you are cooking dinner. Some would argue that chalkboards are no longer in style, but we say function first!
  8. Get Plugged In.
Take a look at the amount of outlets you currently have in your kitchen. If you feel like you could use more, now is the time to get some more added. Extra outlets will come in handy more often than you think! If you can’t add more outlets, switch out your existing outlets for newer ones that include USB ports alongside the plugs.
  9. Small Spaces = Soft Shades.
If you have a small kitchen, expert designers recommend sticking with soft shades. Darker shades tend to make the room feel smaller.
  10. The Main Event.
Just like in any room, you want to create a focal point. Whatever your point of interest may be, try to make a statement that reflects your family and your style!

Whether you are starting from the beginning and need step-by-step guidance or know exactly what you need, ICC Home’s new showroom will give you a quick, efficient, and joyful shopping experience. Preparing for a Paint Project

January 4, 2019 by iccfloors Leave a Comment

If you are gearing up to launch a paint project in your home, we are sure that you will want to get it right the first time.  To help you with your paint project, we have compiled a list of all the accessories that you will need for a flawless interior paint job. Let’s take a look!

1. Painter’s Tape

You will find that painter’s tape is a lifesaver. One of the most important things you can do when performing a paint job in your home is to adequately prep your home. In fact, when you pay attention to prepping your house, you will be much happier with the results. Painter’s tape helps keep your trim, ceiling, and other finishes paint-free during the process. Just imagine how tough it can be to remove paint from delicate surfaces and with painter’s tape, you do not have to worry about that.

2. Starter Kit

If this is your first DIY paint project, you should start strong by investing in a beginner’s painting kit. Such a kit will include essential tools like paint brushes, rollers, tray, tray liner, and gloves. Purchasing a kit is much easier than trying to buy all the items individually, especially if you do not really know all the things you will need for a successful painting project.

3.  Paint Edger

It can be hard getting to the edges and corners of the room. That is why you may need a paint edger.  You will find that a paint edger comes in handy when getting to the trickiest parts of a room.

4.  Drop Cloth

Of course, a drop cloth is essential, especially if you are painting a room with furniture in it. A drop cloth will protect your furnishing and floors from accidental drips. Also, a drop cloth makes the cleanup process much more manageable.  Plastic drop cloths are the most inexpensive option but canvas cloths are more efficient, and they are not slippery.

5. Paint Brush Cover

Will your paint project take more than one day? If so, paintbrush covers are definitely a necessity.  Instead of wasting time washing the paint off your brushes, you can store them for use the next day in a paint brush cover.

6. Paint Tray

Perhaps the most annoying thing about paint trays is that you have to repeatedly keep filling them. When shopping for a paint tray, purchase one that can hold up to a gallon of paint. This will help make the painting process go much faster.

As a customer, you have a lot of questions and concerns. Your satisfaction is our top priority. To help us meet your expectations, we have answered four of the most common flooring questions. Please take some time to read over our answers and contact us with any more questions or concerns.

How long will it take for me to get my flooring?

Once the flooring order is placed at the mill, your sales associate will immediately know whether the product is in stock or will be produced at a certain date. If the product is in stock at the mill, we should receive the product within a week. After the product has been received by ICC Floors, we will set an installation date with you. Depending on the time of year, the installation date can be within the same week of receipt or several weeks depending on how busy our crews are.

What is “shop at home?”

One of our knowledgeable team members will come directly to your home or business with samples of flooring. During this time, we will measure your space to get an exact estimate. You have the ability to order right then and place a deposit on your new flooring without ever leaving your home or business. It is that easy!

What if I am unsure about what flooring to choose?

We offer a special service called “Design your Room,” where homeowners have the ability to upload a picture of their actual room and test out flooring and wall colors. This useful tool helps homeowners imagine what their space could look like without fully committing to a specific style of flooring. The best part is the first upload is completely free!

How do I pay for my flooring?

Along with checks and cash, we accept Discover, Visa, MasterCard, and American Express cards to pay for your purchase. Also, we offer financing through Synchrony Financial. To read more about financing your purchase, visit our financing page.

We look forward to working with you! For more information or to speak with a sales associate call us or visit one of our three locations.
