Your Home Value

June 26, 2017 by iccfloors Leave a Comment

Selling a home can be a long, strenuous process. If you want to add value to your home, we have the perfect list of investments that will help increase your home’s worth.

Increasing your home’s value:

    • Schedule an Inspection. Before you get slapped with a bad inspection, be aware of the areas that need attention and fix these issues. The last thing you want is for a sale to fall through because of something you could have fixed in advance.
    • Clean Your Home’s Exterior. The outside of your home is the first thing that buyers will see. Make sure that your landscaping is clean, you have swept your front porch, and power washed your siding. Power washing can remove dust, dirt, and grime from the home’s exterior and helps it to look appealing to buyers. Also, incorporate a few potted plants near your front door to draw the eyes towards the entrance.
    • Make it Feel Homey. It is sometimes hard for buyers to envision themselves living in your home when it feels empty or overpacked. Your home should not have too little nor too much stuff overcrowding it. Light warm scented candles to indulge their senses. Warm scents tend to remind people of home and that is the ultimate goal. Take down pictures of your family, because buyers have a hard time picturing themselves in the house if all they see is your family.
    • Apply Touch-Ups. If you notice chipped paint or worn areas, tend to them. It can affect the buyer’s view on the quality of your home.
    • Show off Your Flooring. If you have hardwood underneath your carpet, show it off! Buyers tend to love when homeowners expose the original hardwood flooring and sometimes, will be willing to pay more for the home. If you aren’t that lucky, consider adding this to your list before you show your home.  The look of hardwood floors draws many buyers based on the timelessness of the material.
    • Update Wherever You Can. Think about areas of your home that are outdated. Popcorn ceilings and all yellow bathrooms can be overwhelming to buyers. All the buyers will be thinking about is how they will have to update it and the future costs. Add new fixtures and cabinet handles throughout the home. This will help give the house a more modern look that buyers appreciate.

If you are looking to update the home’s flooring, we are here to help! Please contact us at ICC Floors for more information and pricing.

Have a Dream, Part 1

June 9, 2017 by iccfloors 2 Comments

Take a second and close your eyes. Imagine your dream home. How many bedrooms are there? What does the kitchen look like? Now, let us dig deeper into your dream home. How do you envision the home’s flooring? Take a moment and move from room to room in this dream. Okay, now open your eyes. What if we told you that all of it can be made possible? Your entire dream, flooring and all. We want to help you turn your dreams into a reality here at ICC Floors.

Let us take a look at the different flooring options we have available to our valued customers:

  • Carpet

Carpet has been a long-lasting favorite for homeowners, because of the warmth and comfort it provides. It is the perfect choice for bedrooms and your family room.

  • Hardwood

Hardwood has become a popular trend because it is great for people who suffer from allergies and it has long-lasting durability in high-traffic areas. Hardwood flooring is great for all rooms, except for rooms that will experience a lot of moisture. Hardwood is the perfect choice for your family room and hallways.

  • Laminate.

Laminate has the same benefits as hardwood, but it scratch resistant; therefore, if you are looking for extremely durable flooring, laminate may be a perfect choice. Try laminate in your hallways and/or family room.

  • Tile & Natural Stone

These flooring choices are extremely durable and water resistant. You can trust that water will not negatively impact these flooring choices. They are the perfect choices for your kitchen and bathrooms. You can also use them in your shower!

  • Sheet Vinyl &Luxury Vinyl Tile

Sheet vinyl and luxury vinyl tile are great choices for rooms that attract a lot of moisture. They are perfect for bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms and basements. The best part is that you do not have to sacrifice style for durability. These flooring options come in an array of different colors and patterns for customers to get exactly what they want.

Here at ICC Floors, we are eager to help our customers make their dreams a reality. You don’t have to wonder what it would be like to own the home of your dreams anymore, instead, you can design the space of your dreams. We are excited to embark upon this journey with you and look forward to working with you.

Paint Like a Pro

May 26, 2017 by iccfloors Leave a Comment

The colors you choose for your wall can captivate your style and bring the entire room together. With so many color choices available, painting becomes a creative adventure. If you decide to paint your home by yourself, there are some tips and tricks you should know.

How to paint like a pro:

Prepare

  • Select a paint color from your local paint store. If you are looking for inspiration, choose an item from your room that captivates the color you want or look through paint catalogs. Make sure that you buy a high-quality paint for a great pigmentation and long-lasting affects.
  • Remove all the furniture and decorations from the room. For larger items, you can move them into the center of the room (they will be covered).
  • Take a feather duster and remove all cobwebs from the corners of the walls.
  • Grab a baby wipe and wipe down the wall trim. This will help assure we have clean, sharp paint lines.

Protect

  • Drop cloths have proven to be more effective than plastic during painting projects. A drop cloth will absorb any paint that may have spilled.  It also protects your furniture and floor from paint stains. Use one every time.

Prime

  • Not every wall needs to be primed before it is painted, but there are certain times that you should prime your walls beforehand:
  • Change the sheen of your paint.
  • Painting new walls or wood.
  • Painting walls that have damage or have been patched.
  • Painting a lighter color overtop of a darker paint color.
  • If you are painting your walls a dark or bold color, try using tinted paint primer.

Pre-test

  • In a small section of the room, try out the paint color. Make sure that it is the color you want it to be with the lighting in the room.

Paint Extras

  • Experts recommend that painters purchase a half-pint paint pitcher to store extra paint. If you ever need to touch up an area of the room, grab your half-pint paint pitcher. It is easier than storing a bulky, normal-size paint pitcher and always assures you that you have extra paint.

(A)ppreciate

  • Your room has never looked better and the new look was easily accomplished with these simple tricks. Make sure to let all the paint dry before moving furniture back into the room.

Now that your room is painted, you can look at new flooring! For flooring recommendations or advice, please call us at ICC Floors. We are a Benjamin Moore preferred company and have 3 stores for your convenience. Visit us at ICC Floors — we have experts awaiting your call and we look forward to helping you.

The Rulebook!

May 22, 2017 by iccfloors Leave a Comment

If you are planning a remodeling, stop what you are doing and review this rulebook. We want to help save you time and money with these six remodeling rules.

The Remodeling Guidebook:

Rule 1: Keep up with the decades. If you are not planning on remodeling again, try to keep your home’s remodel timeless. Think about if the design will go out of style quickly or if it is just too trendy. Your best bet is to stick with the classics when remodeling.

Rule 2: Incorporate more storage. We are pretty sure that no homeowner says that they have “too much” storage in their home. That is because we can always use more storage. If you are planning a remodel, make sure to add more space for your belongings. From furniture to closets, always keep storage in mind.

Rule 3: Focus on what you love. Now is the time to incorporate what you love into your home’s design. If you love golf, add a putting green in your backyard. If you love to cook, add more counter space and high-tech appliances to the kitchen. The remodel is about your needs, do not forget that.

Rule 4: Emphasize the home’s charm. A lot of times, we purchase homes because of their character and charm. If you loved the ceiling’s arches, emphasize them in the design. Take what you loved about the home and draw attention to those factors.

Rule 5: Paint colors set the mood of a room. Have you ever noticed you feel more peaceful in a certain color room? It is because paint really can set the mood of your room. Decide what mood you are going for then choose paint based off of that. If you want to create a den feel, try using a dark gray. If you want to create a cheerful feel, try using a light blue.

Rule 6: Comfort is key. You are living in the home that you remodel, aren’t you? Make sure that you choose items that are cozy. Odds are you will have to live with it for awhile and comfortable always wins.

With every great remodel comes great flooring. We would love to help you with all of your flooring needs. Visit us at ICC Floors or contact us for more information.
